Virgo does not ask you to become perfect.

It asks you to become devoted.

Watch the Virgo New Moon Ceremony Replay

Our live gathering has now taken place, and we are honored to share the full Virgo New Moon Sacred Sound & Light Ceremony: The Practice of Sacred Devotion with you.

This ceremony is open to everyone. We meet the High Priestess not as a role limited by gender, but as a living archetype of inner wisdom, receptivity, discernment, and sacred tending—qualities available within every person.

Before You Begin

Create a quiet, comfortable space and have nearby:

  • A glass or cup of clean drinking water

  • Your journal and something to write with

  • A candle, if desired

  • One Black Swan Temple Chakra Oil, if available

If you choose to work with an oil, anoint yourself before beginning the guided journey. The oils can be beautiful companions for your practice, but they are not required to receive the ceremony.

During the closing portion of the journey, you will be invited to bless and drink your water. Please keep it beside you until that time.

When you are ready, press play and enter the ceremony with us.

The Virgo New Moon arrives like the quiet tending of an altar after a storm.

The candles may have burned low. The water may need to be refreshed. Some offerings have fulfilled their purpose, while others are asking to be gathered, cleared, or returned to the Earth.

Nothing is wrong.

The Temple is simply ready to be tended again.

After the intensity of August’s eclipse passage, this New Moon offers us a different kind of beginning. It does not demand spectacle or dramatic reinvention. It invites us to pause, integrate what has been revealed, and make the practical adjustments that will support who we are becoming.

This is the practice of sacred devotion.

When Was the September 2026 Virgo New Moon?

The Sun and Moon met at 18 degrees and 25 minutes of Virgo on:

  • Thursday, September 10 at 5:27 PM HT

  • Thursday, September 10 at 8:27 PM PT

  • Thursday, September 10 at 11:27 PM ET

  • Friday, September 11 at 5:27 AM CEST

The date changed according to time zone, but the invitation remained the same: to bring loving attention to what is practical, essential, and alive.

The First Quiet Breath After Eclipse Season

This was the first New Moon following the intense eclipse passage of August.

Eclipses can initiate changes that take many months to understand. They often reveal change before we have language for it, rearranging our inner and outer realities over time.

This Virgo New Moon does not ask us to force a dramatic new beginning. It offers fertile ground for integration.

Rather than asking, What entirely new life should I create? we might ask:

What has eclipse season already shown me?

What now needs to be adjusted so I can live in greater alignment with that knowing?

Virgo is mutable Earth.

It works through tangible changes: the schedule we revise, the room we clear, the meal we prepare, the boundary we honor, the appointment we make, and the practice we return to each morning.

These choices may appear small, but small does not mean insignificant.

A life is shaped through what we repeatedly tend.

Virgo and the Practice of Sacred Devotion

Virgo helps us notice what is working and what is no longer working—in our routines, responsibilities, health, schedules, relationships, and the ways we use our energy.

It can reveal where our life force has become scattered across too many obligations, promises, unfinished tasks, or outdated expectations.

Virgo asks:

What genuinely supports your life?

What is quietly draining you?

What needs to be simplified, reorganized, or lovingly released?

The shadow of Virgo can be perfectionism—the feeling that we should be doing more, doing it better, or somehow have everything figured out.

We may postpone beginning until every detail is resolved, measure our worth through productivity, or turn the sacred practice of discernment into relentless self-criticism.

But the deeper medicine of Virgo is not perfection.

It is devotion.

Perfection asks, Have I done enough to be worthy?

Devotion asks, What is worthy of my care?

Perfection keeps moving the finish line.

Devotion brings us back to the present moment.

Perfection is concerned with appearance.

Devotion is concerned with relationship—with the body, the breath, the Earth, the Divine, and the work entrusted to our hands.

Devotion is the practice we return to each morning.

The boundary we honor.

The body we listen to.

The small act of care we offer when no one is watching.

Under this New Moon, we are invited to release the impossible project of perfecting ourselves and choose one or two living commitments that can be tended with sincerity.

The High Priestess of Everyday Life

For this lunation, we meet Virgo through the living archetype of the High Priestess of Everyday Life.

The High Priestess is not Virgo’s traditional astrological or Tarot correspondence. We welcome her here through our contemporary Temple practice—as an archetype of inner listening, receptivity, discernment, sacred tending, and embodied wisdom.

These qualities belong to everyone. They are not limited by gender.

The High Priestess is not removed from ordinary life.

She is revealed within it.

She appears when we bless the water before we drink it.

She is present when we listen to the body before agreeing to another obligation.

She lives in the boundary quietly spoken, the altar lovingly refreshed, the garden patiently tended, and the promise honored when no one is watching.

Her authority does not arise from performance. It arises from intimacy with the inner voice and the willingness to live in relationship with what it reveals.

Virgo reminds us that spiritual practice does not happen only during ceremony. The way we organize our day, care for our physical vessel, speak to ourselves, complete our work, and serve one another can also become prayer.

The question is not whether you are spiritual enough to become the High Priestess.

The question is whether you are willing to recognize where this wisdom is already living through you.

The High Priestess reminds us that we do not always need another answer from outside ourselves.

Sometimes we need enough stillness to hear the wisdom already present within.

A Better Way May Reveal Itself

This New Moon arrived within a lively field of changing information.

Mercury, the planetary ruler of Virgo, entered Libra on September 10 and began moving toward a flowing Grand Air Trine with Uranus in Gemini and Pluto in Aquarius.

Mercury speaks to thought, language, and communication, while Libra seeks balance, relationship, and the ability to consider more than one perspective.

This can open the mind to new possibilities. A conversation, question, unexpected insight, or different point of view may reveal a solution we could not see while thinking about the problem in the same familiar way.

Uranus also stationed retrograde in Gemini on the day of the New Moon, amplifying the invitation to question our assumptions.

What story have we accepted without examining it?

What question have we not yet asked?

What rhythm have we already outgrown?

There may be restlessness within this energy, but there can also be liberation.

Changing our approach is not failure.

Sometimes it is wisdom.

Listening to the Intelligence of the Body

Mars in Cancer formed a supportive sextile to the Virgo New Moon, bringing the intelligence of the body and heart into the conversation.

The mind may have many ideas, but Mars in Cancer asks us to notice what we feel instinctively drawn to protect, nourish, and care for.

A plan may look efficient on paper and still feel wrong within the body. Another may seem unfamiliar yet carry a quiet sense of rightness.

This is not only about what makes sense intellectually.

It is also about what feels honest within the body.

Discernment asks us to consider both:

What do the facts reveal?

What does the body know?

Giving the Vision a Sustainable Form

In the background, Jupiter in Leo continues its supportive trine with Saturn in Aries.

Jupiter holds the vision.

Saturn gives it form.

Together, they remind us that inspiration becomes meaningful when it is supported by structure, patience, and consistent action.

A dream does not become less sacred when we create a schedule for it.

A calling does not become less intuitive when we give it a clear boundary.

Devotion creates a trustworthy vessel for what is trying to grow.

The Sabian Symbol: A Swimming Race

The Sabian Symbol associated with the nineteenth degree of Virgo is traditionally called “A Swimming Race.”

We can hold this as a contemplative image of self-mastery—not competing with others, but learning to move in our own rhythm and tend our own becoming.

We do not need to measure our path against anyone else’s.

We are each swimming our own waters.

The conditions surrounding another person are not the conditions surrounding us. Their pace does not need to become our pace. Their path does not need to become our path.

Our practice is to remain present within our own current, listen to the intelligence of our own body, and continue moving with integrity.

Refinement in the Year of the Fire Horse

Within the Year of the Fire Horse, September carries the medicine of refinement and discipline.

After the great Fire and movement of the previous months, discipline does not need to mean pushing harder. It can become the loving structure that protects what matters.

A boundary can protect your energy.

A morning practice can protect your clarity.

A simpler schedule can protect your health and relationships.

A clear priority can keep the Fire Horse from scattering its strength in too many directions.

Virgo helps Fire take form. It asks us to place our passion inside structures that can sustain it.

The goal is not to control every outcome. It is to create a trustworthy vessel for what is trying to grow.

Choose one living priority.

Make one loving edit.

Create one rhythm that protects what matters.

A Simple Virgo New Moon Ritual

You may enter this ritual at any time during the Virgo lunar cycle or whenever you feel called to renew your relationship with sacred devotion.

1. Clear One Small Space

Choose one contained area: a corner of your altar, a drawer, your bedside table, or the surface where you begin your work.

Remove what no longer belongs.

Clean the space slowly, allowing this to become an act of presence rather than another task to complete.

2. Prepare Water and Light

Place a glass or cup of clean drinking water beside a candle.

If available, place a sprig of rosemary or a small offering of grain beside the water to represent discernment, nourishment, and the harvest of your lived experience.

Light the candle and take several unhurried breaths.

3. Anoint With Intention

If you have our Seven Chakra Temple Oils, choose one ceremonial companion:

  • Amber · Root Chakra for grounding, stability, and returning to the body

  • Myrrh · Solar Plexus Chakra for inner authority and purposeful refinement

  • Papyrus · Throat Chakra for clear discernment and truthful expression

  • Sandalwood · Brow Chakra for intuition and inner listening

One oil is enough.

Anoint yourself gently before entering meditation or stillness. Allow the fragrance to mark your transition from ordinary activity into intentional presence.

Temple Oils are optional. You can experience the ritual and ceremony fully without them.

4. Ask What Is Worthy of Devotion

Place your hands around—but not inside—the glass of water.

Allow yourself to become still and ask:

What is worthy of my steady devotion during this lunar cycle?

Do not force an answer.

Listen for a word, feeling, image, bodily sensation, or simple inner knowing.

5. Choose One Living Practice

Write down one practice you can realistically tend during the coming lunar month.

Keep it specific and compassionate.

It might be five minutes of morning silence, drinking water before coffee, closing your workday at a clear time, tending your altar once a week, moving your body each morning, or asking for support before overwhelm takes root.

You do not need to change everything.

Choose one living devotion.

6. Bless and Drink the Water

When you have fully returned to your body and feel present in the room, hold the glass between your hands.

Bring your chosen devotion into your awareness.

You may whisper:

May this water carry the blessing of clarity.

May it nourish what is worthy of my devotion.

May I tend this practice with patience, compassion, and love.

Pause and allow your intention to settle.

Then drink the water slowly.

Feel it enter the body as a tangible act of receiving and commitment.

Let devotion become embodied.
